Day-2 (20-09-2009)
Kurushektra
Kurukshetra is probably the most famous religious site in India and one of the most ancient places of pilgrimage in the world. The name of Kurukshetra derives from a tribe, Kuru. By the evidence of its name and its archaeological remains there can be no doubts that Kurukshetra was occupied by the Aryans. The city is said to be as old as the Rigveda, and was also caqlled Saryanvat. Kurukshetra has been delcared as the land of Dharma or righteousness in the very first shloka of Srimadbhagwad Gita
This place is famous for Geeta, Krishna, Pandava, Mahabharat and other holy reasons so little bit we visited this place...
Brahma Sarovar
first we bathed at Brahma Sarovar which is holy sarovar due to Lord Brahma and something about sarovar is :
According to Hindu myth, Lord Brahma created the universe from the land of Kurukshetra after a huge yajna. The Brahma Sarovar here is believed to be the cradle of civilisation. The sarovar is also mentioned in the eleventh century AD memoirs of Al Beruni, called ‘Kitab-ul-Hind’.
A sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva stands within the sarovar, accessible by a small bridge. According to scriptures, bathing in this sarovar increases the sanctity of performing the ‘ashvamedh yajna’. Today Brahma Sarovar has been renovated. It is 1800 feet long and 1400 feet broad.
after bathed we visited
Birla Gita Temple
Lord Krishna is the main deity of the temple. The main hall has portraits of Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh, Saint Ravidas, Guru Tegh Bahadur, Veda Vyasa and Tulsidas along with their preaching. This garden also has a large marble chariot drawn by four horses.
It contains the sitting idols of Lord Krishna and Arjuna. A stanza from each of the 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita is inscribed on all sides of the chariot.
There is an interesting story behind the temple site. A Titu bird had laid eggs in the battle field of Mahabharat. The bird was concerned about the security of her children due to the movements of the elephants. She prayed to the God and a bell broke from the neck of an elephant and fell over the nest. This bell protected the nest during the 18 day war. A white marble Gaj Ghanta (elephant's bell) located in the temple garden commemorates this legend.
Then went to Chandigarh for meeting of friends and servicing of bike at Bajaj Probike Service centre... reached at Panchkula Osho Harmony center at 4 PM for stay and night halt...

Day - 4th (22.09.2009)
Chandigarh to Kullu
Now all the necessary things were completed and we started our trip to Manali at 7.30 AM.
On reaching Ropar (Roopnagar) , heavy rainfall started and due to traffic jam some time was wasted there....later,we reached Kullu by the evening and had dinner. It was about 8 PM, so we decided for night halt in Manali. As such we continued our journey to Manali but after 3 kms. from Kullu my avvy's tyre got punctured. So we have to stop the bike in the dark along roadside to check the status of tyre .Fortunately we came across a nice person whose nick name was Bhaiji. He stopped his car near my bike keeping his lights on and helped us. He told that It's DEV BHUMI so dont be tensed. He kept our luggage in his car so that now it was much easier for me to drag the punctured bike to nearby dhaba.Graceful help of Bhaiji that we were back at Kullu. He even arranged Vaishno Devi Dharamshala for our night halt on 200 bucks. Later we came to know that he was the owner of Sapna Sweets, Kullu and have other helping institutions (like gaushala, vradhashram etc.) and well famed person of Kullu and Manali region. We thanked him a ton but being a humble person he didnot accept it and gave his contact number for any further help.
. Our meeting with such a nice person made us completely forgot the whole trouble created by the punctured tyre.now stopped the rainfall
.. feeling relexed
Day - 5 (23.09.2009)
Kullu to Marhi
We got up late in the morning and after doing some photo session I got my bike’s puncture repaired. We continued our journey in the afternoon. We had some juice at juice shop situated on the way to Manali and did some shopping in Manali. We got the bike’s tank filled at petrol pump and kept 5 litres of petrol in some container as b.c.m.t. members generally write about the incoherent services of petrol pump of Tandi. So we arranged fuel for going to Leh in Manali itself. We reached Marhi by the evening and after analyzing the road’s condition we decided to stay here only. We got a room after talking to Whisper Dhaba’s owner. We kept our luggage in the room, clicked some pics and had dinner. Due to cold weather and next day’s journey we slept early.
Day - 6 (24.09.2009)
Marhi to Jispa
We got up early in the morning and after having tea continued the journey at approx 07.30 am. Later, near Rohtang pass we got struck in a traffic jam because of a truck’s breakdown. By chance there were some localites going to a wedding, they built a temporary road parallel to that truck with the help of stones and sand in just one hour so that small vehicles could pass. We reached Jispa by 4 PM and decided to stay there. we relieved the whole day's tiredness by sitting near a nearby flowing river Bhaga . Later we had our dinner, chit chatted with people of the guest house and went to sleep.
DAY - 7th (25-09-2009)
Jispa to Pang
We renewed our journey from Jispa at 7.30 AM ........having some photo session on the way, reached Pang by 4 PM and stayed in a tent. Around 7 PM we got a pleasant surprise.... three bikes stopped near our neighboring tent...after seeing BCMT sticker on a bike i went inside their tent and after meeting i came to know that they were the moderator SALIL and member Dikshit and Sandeep. It was a wonderful surprise for us. Also, Two people from Delhi staying in our nearby tent put on the music on their scorpio's music system till late night and danced in the company of other people .Due to the High altitude we did not participate and rested.

DAY-8 (26.09.2009)
PANG TO LEH
Next morning after chatting with Salil,Dixit and Sandeep, we bid them farewell for Manali and continued our journey at 8.30 AM....Morry Plain....here one has to choose one's own road for driving....no signboard and no one way....just lots of tyre marks....and all of them moving in their own way.......some tyre marks end up in nearby villages so we drived carefully....and on the way....we met some trucks so got the way confirmed......like this we crossed Morry Plain....we reached Taglang La. Its road was also not good. There was work going on both sides of the road and hence we got tired....After approx. 20 kms from Taglang La ......the road kept on improving...and was good upon reaching Leh.We reached Leh about 3.30 PM in the evening...it took us some time to search a proper hotel...later we rested for some time...then went to check out Leh's market. Later, we had dinner and took rest.
